RACISM, POVERTY, AND VIOLENCE .

HERE WERE THE TERMS OF OUR FIRST CONVERSATION :

On April 4, 1968, Dr Martin Luther King was assassinated. Although cities across the country participate in the official, annual MLK day events, issues of bias, bigotry, violence, poverty, and racism remain a stumbling block to growth, investments, and the overall well-being of our communities.

What brings you to this Conversation and why does it matter?

What is the crossroad you find yourself at regarding this community making it to the Mountaintop?

What is your responsibility in assisting the community in its efforts to reach the Mountaintop?

What is the price you're willing to pay for the success of the communal goal of reaching the Mountaintop?

What gift(s) are you not allowing yourself to manifest that would help you assist the community to reach the Mountaintop?

And, the terms of our second Conversation:

What brought you here today; why does it matter to you; why is it important for you to be here today?

What doubts and reservations do you have?

What’s the promise I’m willing to make that constitutes a risk or major shift for me?

Plus, the results of three phases of Open Space Discussion from Conversation Two:

* Re-Invigorate/X Conversation/Include Young People

Spiritual Aspect/Human aspect

Ego

Love Self & Others

* Awareness/Education

Understanding Who We Are

History/Context of History

* Activism

* Collaborative Event

Art, Music, Dance, Culture as Tools Science

☼ Different meeting times & locations to reach the broader group.

Conversation Three (May 16th) was attended by a core group of Mountaintop Participants.

Various folk brought luscious food for our beginning social engagement.

We, once again, were led to consider our current Crossroads and Challenges (doubts) by the ASG Facilitator, then engaged in Spirited discussion about the direction we need to move in.

A committee was formed to consider more promotion of the four major goals the on-going Group has developed:

* Re-Invigorate/Conversation/Include Young People

* Awareness/Education

*Activism

* Collaborative Event

We ended the evening with some social fun: Dancing and more Spirited Talk!

The meeting on November 8 was awesome. About a dozen people gathered at the table, had dinner and a conversation then began the task of planning ACTION on April 4, 2008. Further info to be posted soon.
